About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency dedicated to preventing and treating substance use and mental health disorders. With programs across Southeastern Massachusetts, High Point offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. They also support survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. High Point operates under the belief that every individual possesses inherent goodness, worth, and dignity, aiming to empower individuals and families to achieve personal change and enhance their quality of life. Their outpatient services, located in Brockton, Middleborough, New Bedford, Plymouth, and Taunton, provide day and evening availability. These services include individual, group, and family counseling, as well as medication management, delivered by an interdisciplinary team of licensed social workers, clinicians, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

Requirements

  • Independently licensed Behavioral Health Clinician, including: LICSW/LMHC/LMFT/LADC1
  • Must always present as courteous and professional
  • Maintains and submits any current Licensure or Certificate necessary for the performance of the position
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPAO Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Must have the ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
  • Understand and maintain therapeutic boundaries
  • Reinforce rules in a respectful manner
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations
  • TB/Flu and Covid19 Assessment
  • Annual Completion of the HPAO crisis de-escalation program
  • CPR Certification
  • Successful completion of all trainings upon hire and annually as required
  • Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field; clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, social work
  • Minimum of one year of supervised substance use and/or mental health disorder counseling experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Crisis intervention
  • Maintain assigned caseload
  • Providing direct care to patients/residents – including assessments, individual counseling, discharge and aftercare planning, treatment plans and updates, weekly progress notes, daily groups facilitation, group note completion, and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments
  • Making referrals when appropriate
  • Responsible for each assigned patients/residents’ medical records. All records are to be professional, complete and thorough with entries made in a timely manner
  • Responsible connecting patients/residents with aftercare services prior to discharge and aiding the resident and his/her family access services when appropriate
  • Communicating/involving family in treatment at patients/residents' request
  • Attend and participate in all unit, facility meetings, case conferences, Treatment Team meetings, and mandatory trainings, as directed by the Clinical Supervisor/Director
  • Responsible for continued education in the field of substance use, mental health and related courses
  • Always utilize standards precautions
  • Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of patients as defined by the patient’s rights
  • Providing clinical services to patients – including required assessments, individual/family/couples counseling, group clinical services, discharge planning, treatment plans, progress notes, and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments
  • Completion of all required external clinical communications including court/DCF/DMH monthly compliance reports, evaluation summaries, other requested external documentation
  • Ability to provide clinical services through in-person and telehealth modalities
  • Responsible for linking patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and aiding the patient and his/her family access outpatient services when appropriate
  • Attend all identified meetings, MDT meetings and case conferences as directed by the Clinical Director
  • Attend mandatory trainings and seek opportunities for clinical growth through certification
  • Maintain professional license in good standing, as applicable
  • Responsible for contacting the insurance company for authorization, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Program Director, Clinical Supervisor or Assistant Program Director
