Colorist, Licensed Cosmetologist
About The Position
Licensed Colorists at Madison Reed Hair Color Bar deliver quality hair color services and excellent guest care. They help guests identify the best color for them and execute services to high standards. The role centers on consultations, hair care products, blowout services, unlimited roots memberships, and building positive relationships with guests and team members. Colorists help maintain a focused, friendly, clean, and organized environment while supporting one another and meeting the demands of a busy day. The position reports to the Manager and may be full-time or part-time depending on business needs. Availability at peak times is required. Compensation consists of base hourly pay, commissions, and tips; potential earnings for the location range from $28.50 to $30.50 per hour. Actual compensation depends on factors including Hair Color Bar performance, tenure, and time behind the chair.
Requirements
- Hold an active cosmetology license in the state where applying.
- Have at least 1 year of experience as a colorist behind the chair in a salon environment.
- Have effective communication, strong problem-solving, and people skills in a fast-paced retail or salon environment.
- Be comfortable operating point-of-sale systems.
- Be fluent in English.
- Be available at peak times.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and develop teamwork skills to provide a guest experience aligned with the company's values of Love, Joy, Trust, Courage, and Responsibility.
- Provide consultations and all menu services, including shampooing, conditioning, blow-drying, flat ironing, curling, and chemical services, to high quality standards and guest satisfaction.
- Attend to guest needs when recommending products and color, while remaining flexible to business needs and on time for bookings.
- Contribute to monthly sales goals and key performance indicators, including retail sales, services, and memberships.
- Ensure the Hair Color Bar meets company standards for cleanliness, merchandising, inventory, and company asset security.
- Follow protocols for Madison Reed systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Grow Hair Color Bar revenue by increasing average service tickets through additional services, unlimited roots memberships, subscriptions, home hair care, and other offerings.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay current on Madison Reed products and services.
- Support Assistant Colorists' training and development through demonstration, coaching, and care.
