Colorist, Licensed Cosmetologist
About The Position
Licensed Colorists at Madison Reed Hair Color Bar deliver quality hair-color services and excellent guest care. They consult with guests to identify suitable color and products, perform services to high quality standards, and contribute to a focused, friendly, clean, and organized work environment. The role involves meeting business targets, building relationships with guests and teammates, and supporting one another during busy days. The Colorist is an expert in Madison Reed consultations, hair-care products, blowout services, and unlimited roots memberships. The role reports to the Manager and may be full-time or part-time depending on business needs. Availability during peak times is required. Compensation consists of base hourly pay, commissions, and tips; potential earnings at this location are $43–$45 per hour, with actual compensation dependent on factors including Hair Color Bar performance, tenure, and time behind the chair.
Requirements
- Active cosmetology license in the state where applying.
- At least one year of experience as a colorist behind the chair in a salon environment.
- Effective communication, strong problem-solving, and people skills in a fast-paced retail or salon environment.
- Comfort operating point-of-sale systems.
- Fluency in English.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and develop teamwork skills to provide a guest experience aligned with the company values of Love, Joy, Trust, Courage, and Responsibility.
- Provide consultations and all menu services, including shampooing, conditioning, styling, and chemical services, to high quality standards and guest satisfaction.
- Attend to guest needs when selecting products and color while adapting to business needs and keeping bookings on time.
- Contribute to monthly sales goals and key performance indicators, including retail sales, services, and memberships.
- Maintain company standards for cleanliness, merchandising, inventory, and security of company assets.
- Follow Madison Reed systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Grow Hair Color Bar revenue by increasing average service tickets through additional services, memberships, subscriptions, and home hair-care sales.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay current on Madison Reed products and services.
- Support Assistant Colorists’ training and development through demonstration, coaching, and care.
