Colorist, Licensed Cosmetologist
About The Position
Licensed Colorists at Madison Reed Hair Color Bar deliver quality hair color services and excellent guest care. They help guests choose suitable colors and execute services to high standards while embodying the company mantra, “confident is the new beautiful.” The role includes expert consultations, product knowledge, blowout services, and promoting unlimited roots memberships. Colorists contribute to a focused, friendly work environment by understanding business targets, planning to meet them, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and building supportive relationships with guests and teammates. This position reports to the Manager. It may be full-time or part-time depending on business needs, and requires availability during peak times. Compensation includes base hourly pay, commissions, and tips. Potential earnings for the location are $43–$45 per hour; actual compensation depends on factors including Hair Color Bar performance, tenure, and time behind the chair.
Requirements
- Active cosmetology license in the state where applying.
- At least 1 year of experience as a colorist behind the chair in a salon environment.
- Effective communication, strong problem-solving, and people skills in a fast-paced retail or salon environment.
- Comfort operating point-of-sale systems.
- Fluency in English.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and develop teamwork skills to provide a guest experience aligned with the company values of Love, Joy, Trust, Courage, and Responsibility.
- Provide consultations and all menu services, including shampooing, conditioning, blow drying, flat ironing, curling, and chemical services, to high quality standards and 100% guest satisfaction.
- Attend to guest needs, help select suitable products and color, remain flexible to business needs, and keep bookings on time.
- Contribute to monthly sales goals and key performance indicators, including retail sales, services, and memberships.
- Maintain company standards for cleanliness, merchandising, inventory, and security of company assets.
- Follow Madison Reed systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Drive Hair Color Bar revenue by increasing average service tickets through additional services, unlimited roots memberships, subscriptions, home hair care, and other offerings.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay current on Madison Reed products and services.
- Support Assistant Colorists’ training and development through demonstration, coaching, and care.
