The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for Library Technician 1, UNLV University Libraries. This position will be scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, subject to change based on organizational needs. The primary purpose of this role is to assist library users at the Lied Library’s Circulation Service Desk and provide support for circulation services in three branch library locations (Teacher Development and Resources, Architecture Studies, and Music). Responsibilities include providing courteous and professional service, resolving problems, checking out materials, explaining policies, answering questions, and making effective referrals. This position is responsible for resolving library borrowing account issues, determining the appropriate course of action to recover long overdue materials, and deciding when accounts are to be sent to the contracted collection agency. The incumbent will work with the collection agency to collect outstanding debts and, under supervision, adjust financial obligations based on patron situations. Additionally, this position manages the granting, alteration, or removal of library access for various user groups, including faculty and staff leaving employment, and manages the addition or removal of library holds through the MyUNLV system, which impacts student access to grades, enrollment verification, and transcripts.
