About The Position

This position assists patrons with library materials, including the use of the catalog, copy machine, and computer equipment. The role involves maintaining library materials in proper order, processing materials for library files, preparing statistical reports, and assisting with other library record management or projects. Responsibilities also include shelving books, answering the telephone, and potentially checking out and checking in library materials, as well as accepting overdue fines. The role also involves maintaining and processing materials and performing other library and clerical functions as required. Requirements

  • Knowledge of library techniques and procedures desired
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to operate equipment including adding machine, PC, and typewriter
  • Ability to type 30 wpm
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful and effective manner
  • Ability to maintain library and archival records
  • Skill in alphabetizing and mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read and make decisions
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Minimum six (6) months library or records management experience, including typewriter and/or personal computer experience
