About The Position

This position requires 100% on-site work. Works in a normal office environment. Must be available to work Monday thru Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., various hours library is open. Requirements

  • Knowledge of library techniques and procedures desired
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to operate equipment including adding machine, PC, and typewriter
  • Ability to type 30 wpm
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful and effective manner
  • Ability to maintain library and archival records
  • Skill in alphabetizing and mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read and make decisions
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Minimum six (6) months library or records management experience, including typewriter and/or personal computer experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons with library materials
  • Assist the public with correct use of catalog, copy machine and computer equipment, locating books, periodicals and other materials
  • Maintain library materials by proper shelf order
  • Process materials for the library files
  • Prepare statistical reports
  • Type assigned reports
  • Assist with other library records management or projects
  • Shelve books
  • Maintain and assist with processing materials
  • Perform other library and clerical functions as required
