Library Associate - Library on Wheels

Sno-Isle Libraries•Marysville, WA
•Onsite

About The Position

The Library Associate is based in Library on Wheels and provides skilled para-professional support services that help the Library District deliver inclusive, accessible library services, spaces, and resources reflecting diverse cultures and perspectives. The role focuses particularly on engaging children through visits to childcare facilities, community bookmobile stops, and the STEM-focused Discover Bus. It also provides outreach to senior living facilities and supports special events. The Associate creates welcoming experiences that spark curiosity, encourage reading and learning, and connect community members with library resources. This is an active, on-the-go role involving frequent travel between service locations, work both independently and with a partner, and regular movement of carts, boxes, and supplies. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, with periodic weekend shifts for special events. The successful candidate may need to adapt to future schedule and location changes based on library needs. The role is represented by AFSCME Council 2. It reports to the Library on Wheels Manager; supervision of others is not normally part of the position, though the Associate may provide work direction to coworkers or volunteers as a designated lead.
