Library Assistant

About The Position
The Taft Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant to staff its adult and children’s circulation desks on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and on-call as needed. The position requires at least three hours of work each week, with hours varying depending on open shifts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- One to two years’ experience in clerical or library-related work.
- Excellent customer-service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other library staff.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- College degree preferred.
- Familiarity with CW MARS Evergreen software and the library catalog.
- Knowledge of popular adult and children’s literature and media.
Responsibilities
- Staff the adult circulation desk.
- Staff the children’s circulation desk.
- Work Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and be available on-call as needed.
