About The Position

This is an 8-week, 35 hour per week temporary position. In this role, you will conduct or assist with surveys, interviews, and observations to better understand the needs and interests of residents (at Long Term Care, Assisting Living and Independent Living communities), and the challenges volunteers face in serving residents. You will gather data and feedback to help improve volunteer roles, training, and engagement programs. It is a key responsibility to identify best practices in volunteer engagement and senior living enrichment from reputable sources, to help build and maintain a volunteer resource library; digital and/or physical, focused on materials related to aging, dementia care, communication, companionship, and volunteer skills. Working closely with the Manager of Volunteer Programs, the Volunteer Coordinators, and volunteers, you will organize and catalog materials (books, articles, guides, videos) for easy access and to align research and library efforts with community goals. Finally, you will support the creation of educational and orientation materials for volunteers working with seniors.

Requirements

Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years old at the beginning of employment.
Completion or pursuit of a degree in library science, social work, gerontology, psychology or community engagement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Proficiency in digital communication and data collection tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively engage with diverse community members and present information.
A valid BC driver’s license.
Consent for a Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Adults.
