About The Position

The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences seeks an Assistant Librarian to support library management and patron services. This role involves assisting students and faculty with library resources, technology (including 3D printers and VR), inter-library loans, and online chat support. The Assistant Librarian will also be responsible for maintaining library systems, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and supervising student workers. This is a campus-based position requiring regular weekend hours and a consistent presence on the San Marcos campus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students and faculty with locating, checking in/out, and renewing library materials.
  • Support and train faculty and students on library technologies, including 3D Printers and Virtual Reality.
  • Serve as a point of communication between the Library and the University, and students and faculty on the weekends.
  • Assist with online chat.
  • Process inter- and intra-library loan requests.
  • Proctor individual student exams in the library as requested.
  • Maintain and supervise borrower records in the library information management system.
  • Gather data, compile, and maintain monthly statistics.
  • Maintain, operate, support, and troubleshoot library technology such as printers, copiers, 3-D printers, computers, and other technologies.
  • Process, withdraw, and repair collection items.
  • Assist with cataloging library materials and course reserve materials.
  • Supervise the shelving of books and special materials collections, locating missing items and identifying need for replacement.
  • Order supplies for the department, process requisitions forms, and follow up on backorders.
  • Maintain all library technology and equipment, including annual inventory.
  • Record and process incoming serials, special materials, and other items as needed.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student library workers.
  • Uphold and enforce official library policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the library book and special materials display and library promotional and marketing materials.
  • Support and assist the Campus Librarian, including maintaining sole responsibility of the library and all Librarian duties when the Librarian is absent.
