About The Position

In this position, you will be part of a team of professionals in the City Attorney's Office of the City of Colorado Springs. The City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado (the "City") is a municipal corporation and a home rule city duly organized and existing pursuant to Article XX, § 6 of the Constitution of the State of Colorado and the Charter of the City of Colorado Springs. This position will provide legal administrative support for the City as part of the City Attorney’s Prosecution Team. This position is at-will to the City Attorney. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of full-time legal support experience, in a legal setting, including experience in the preparation and processing of legal documents and records
  • Possess, or obtain within six months of hire, a Colorado Notary Public certification
  • Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Pro, ICCES (Integrated Colorado Courts E-Filing System), and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, e-filing, and criminal court processes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • College-level coursework in legal studies or a related field
  • Experience working in a prosecution environment
  • Experience working within criminal justice software

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal administrative support for the Prosecution Division
  • Prepare correspondence, files, forms, and special applications
  • Handle and process criminal evidence for Prosecution Division files
  • Collect, organize, track, and send discovery
  • Assist with Prosecution Division dockets
  • Create and maintain databases
  • Answer telephones and respond to in-person inquiries from defendants, attorneys, police officers, and witnesses
  • Provide immediate access to records
  • Perform internal and external records filing management, to include compliance with document retention and destruction procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
