About The Position

Inspira Education Group is seeking a Legal Research Mentor to guide pre-law students through developing and completing original research projects in law, legal studies, public policy, political science, and related disciplines. The mentor supports students throughout the research process, from choosing a topic and developing a research question to designing a study, analyzing findings, and preparing final deliverables. The role helps students strengthen their research skills, deepen their understanding of their chosen field, and work toward academic outcomes aligned with their interests and goals. It is a part-time, remote, 1099 independent contractor position open to candidates based in the United States or Canada.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field, such as law, legal studies, public policy, political science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience conducting academic or legal research.
• Strong background in research design, data analysis, and academic writing.
• Experience mentoring students or trainees.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong planning, organization, and project management skills.
• Genuine interest in mentoring pre-law students and supporting their academic and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Guide pre-law students from initial topic selection and research-question development through research design, execution, and final deliverables.
• Help students develop feasible, high-quality research questions aligned with their academic interests and future legal career goals.
• Review research plans, analyses of findings, and written research drafts, providing structured feedback to strengthen students’ work.
• Help students understand research methodologies, academic research standards, and discipline-specific expectations.
• Support students working toward academic papers, research posters, or journal submissions, depending on program scope.
• Track student progress against established milestones and timelines to maintain momentum throughout the research process.
