About The Position

Indigo Research is seeking current faculty members at top 15 US or top 10 UK universities to mentor highly motivated high school students from around the world. Mentors work remotely with students to help them learn academic research and complete a college-level project. They guide students as they develop their interests into research projects, which may include exploring a question, reviewing existing literature, developing an argument, or producing a research paper or other academic output. The role focuses not only on subject knowledge but also on helping students think critically, ask better questions, and approach challenges independently. Mentors help make academic research an engaging and rewarding experience while adapting to students’ needs and backgrounds.

Requirements

• Currently hold a faculty position at a top 15 university in the US or a top 10 university in the UK.
• Have strong subject knowledge and be able to help students explore research topics with academic depth and rigour.
• Enjoy mentoring and be patient, empathetic, and encouraging when working with high school students.
• Be comfortable working with students from different cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Be open to feedback and willing to adapt approaches to each student’s needs.
• Be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and work comfortably in a collaborative, evolving startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Mentor high school students as they learn about academic research and work toward completing a college-level project.
• Guide students in exploring research questions, understanding existing literature, developing arguments, and working toward research papers or other academic outputs.
• Help students develop critical thinking, ask stronger questions, and approach challenges with greater independence.
• Adapt mentoring approaches to students’ individual needs and backgrounds.
• Provide high-quality research mentorship to students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
