Blitzy•Cambridge, MA
•$90,000 - $135,000

About The Position

Blitzy is seeking a Legal Operations & Contracts Manager to build and operate the systems, processes, and tools that enable a small Legal team to support a fast-growing AI company. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role owns Legal’s technology stack, including Ironclad as the contract system of record, and identifies and deploys AI-driven tools that improve Legal’s speed while managing risk. This is a hands-on builder role responsible for designing workflows, templates, playbooks, and integrations that help deals move through Legal efficiently and consistently. The manager provides operational support to Commercial and Enterprise Counsel and runs day-to-day contract operations, including intake, standard paper, and oversight of the enterprise contract review vendor. The role uses judgment to determine which matters to handle, hold, or escalate. Blitzy is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based AI software development platform backed by investors and serving customers that include Fortune 500 companies. Its culture emphasizes fast execution, in-person collaboration, high standards, invention, and customer value. Compensation is $90,000–$135,000, plus bonus and equity.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in legal operations, contract operations, or contract management in-house at a SaaS or technology company; experience at a fast-growing company is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on Ironclad CLM experience, including day-to-day administration; implementation involvement is ideal, particularly with workflow design, templates, permissions, reporting, and integrations.
  • Experience connecting legal systems to a CRM, e-signature tools, and automation tools.
  • Direct experience with AI-driven tools for legal work and a practical understanding of where they save time and where they may introduce risk.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS agreements, NDAs, and Order Forms sufficient to build playbooks and identify matters that should be escalated.
  • Project management skills and comfort with data, including the ability to scope projects, drive them across teams, and demonstrate measurable results.

Nice To Haves

  • A J.D.; it is welcome but not required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and EU privacy law, including GDPR, HIPAA, and CPRA, and related contract documents such as BAAs and DPAs.
  • Familiarity with AI-specific contract issues, including ownership of generated output, model usage rights, and liability among vendors in a platform-based offering.
  • Experience with Ironclad implementation, including workflow design, templates, permissions, reporting, and integrations.
  • Experience connecting legal systems with CRM platforms such as HubSpot or Salesforce, e-signature tools, or workflow automation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own Legal’s technology stack, including its roadmap, standards, tool selection, implementation, renewals, and return on investment.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and deploy AI-driven legal tools for contract review and redlining, clause extraction, knowledge retrieval, and self-service intake; make build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Establish AI-use guardrails with Counsel addressing confidentiality, accuracy, privilege, and data handling, and document where AI assistance is appropriate versus where human review is required.
  • Manage legal technology vendors, including security reviews, contracting, budgets, and performance.
  • Administer Ironclad, including workflow and launch-form design, templates, approvals, user access, reporting, AI features, and obligation tracking.
  • Integrate Ironclad with HubSpot for sales handoff and deal tracking, as well as with e-signature and other business systems using connectors, APIs, or automation tools.
  • Continuously optimize workflows as the business, deal volume, and product offering grow.
  • Operate a single intake channel for legal requests; triage deals, NDAs, security questionnaires, and business requirements documents; select the appropriate track by customer type and route work to the appropriate person or tool.
  • Maintain playbooks, templates, clause libraries, and approved fallback positions for customer and vendor contracts in partnership with internal Counsel.
  • Create SOPs, a knowledge base, and self-service resources, and train Sales, Finance, and other stakeholders on routine contracting tasks.
  • Handle standard-paper commercial subscription agreements using the approved playbook; prepare and process Order Forms with Sales and Finance; escalate negotiated or non-standard terms to Commercial Counsel.
  • Manage enterprise-track review and the contract review vendor relationship, including sending counterparty paper, assessing vendor output against Blitzy’s playbook, and recommending redlines, holds, or escalation to Enterprise Counsel.
  • Maintain continuity across redline rounds for customer, vendor, and other contracting processes.
  • Report on contract cycle time, request volume and turnaround, playbook deviations, vendor performance, and legal tool spend; build dashboards to identify bottlenecks, support investment decisions, and prioritize improvements.
