Legal Operations & Contracts Manager

Blitzy•Cambridge, MA

About The Position

Blitzy is seeking a Legal Operations & Contracts Manager to build and operate the systems, processes, and tools that help a small Legal team keep pace with a fast-growing AI company. Reporting to the General Counsel, this person will own Legal’s technology stack, with Ironclad as the contract system of record, and identify and deploy AI-driven tools that improve Legal’s speed while managing risk. The role will design workflows, templates, playbooks, and integrations, and provide operational support to Commercial and Enterprise Counsel. The manager will run day-to-day contract operations, including intake, standard agreements, and management of the enterprise contract review vendor. The role will triage and route requests, handle standard commercial subscription agreements and Order Forms using approved playbooks, and escalate negotiated or non-standard terms to the appropriate Counsel. It will also maintain continuity across contract redline rounds and report on operational performance, vendor results, and legal technology spending.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in legal operations, contract operations, or contract management at an in-house SaaS or technology company; experience at a fast-growing company is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering Ironclad CLM day to day.
  • Experience connecting legal systems to CRM, e-signature, and workflow automation tools.
  • Direct experience with AI-driven tools for legal work and an understanding of their benefits and potential risks.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS agreements, NDAs, and Order Forms sufficient to build playbooks and identify issues to escalate.
  • Project management skills and comfort with data, including scoping cross-functional projects and demonstrating measurable results.

Nice To Haves

  • A J.D. is welcome but not required.
  • Experience leading or closely participating in an Ironclad implementation, including workflow design, templates, permissions, reporting, and integrations.
  • Familiarity with US and EU privacy laws, including GDPR, HIPAA, and CPRA, and related contract documents such as BAAs and DPAs.
  • Familiarity with AI-specific contract issues, including ownership of generated output, model usage rights, and liability among multiple vendors in a platform-based offering.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own Legal’s technology stack, including its roadmap, standards, tool selection, implementation, renewals, and return on investment.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and deploy AI-driven legal tools, making build-versus-buy decisions and establishing appropriate use guardrails with Counsel.
  • Define and document AI safeguards related to confidentiality, accuracy, privilege, and data handling, including where human review is required.
  • Manage legal technology vendors, including security reviews, contracting, budgets, and performance.
  • Administer Ironclad, including workflow and launch-form design, templates, approvals, user access, reporting, AI features, and obligation tracking.
  • Integrate Ironclad with HubSpot, e-signature tools, and other business systems using connectors, APIs, or automation tools.
  • Continuously optimize workflows as the business, deal volume, and product offering grow.
  • Operate a single intake point for legal requests, triaging deals, NDAs, security questionnaires, and business requirements documents and routing them based on customer type and appropriate handling track.
  • Maintain playbooks, templates, clause libraries, and approved fallback positions for customer and vendor contracts in partnership with Counsel.
  • Create SOPs, a knowledge base, and self-service resources, and train Sales, Finance, and other stakeholders on routine contracting tasks.
  • Handle commercial-track subscription agreements on standard paper using the approved playbook, and prepare and process Order Forms with Sales and Finance.
  • Escalate negotiated or non-standard terms to Commercial Counsel.
  • Manage the enterprise contract review vendor relationship, send counterparty paper for review, assess vendor output against Blitzy’s playbook, and recommend matters to redline, hold, or escalate to Enterprise Counsel.
  • Maintain continuity across redline rounds for all contract tracks, including vendor arrangements and other contracting processes.
  • Report on contract cycle time, request volume and turnaround, playbook deviations, vendor performance, and legal tool spend; build dashboards to identify bottlenecks, support investments, and prioritize improvements.
