About The Position
The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), a Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Summer Legal Intern to join its Legal team. This role will support various legal matters throughout the summer, with a significant focus on a large real estate and document review project related to an M&A transaction. The intern will collaborate closely with in-house lawyers and outside counsel. This is a full-time position (up to 40 hours per week) based in the Salt Lake City, Utah office. AES is a global energy company committed to innovation and sustainability, aiming to meet Paris Agreement goals by 2050 and accelerate the future of energy.
Requirements
- Current Law student attending an accredited law school.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel is required.
Nice To Haves
- Background working with legal documents, real property closings, title and survey review is a plus.
- Prior experience working in a legal department or law firm as a summer intern/clerk is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Support in-house legal team with research and document review matters
- Assist in implementation of AI tool for document review and extraction of key data points
- Prepare government filings related to real estate acquisitions and M&A transactions
