About The Position

The purpose of the intern is to perform general assistance and support duties, assist in planning and implementing projects; and perform related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate must be prompt, professional, and ready to learn new things as they pertain to the insurance industry and the department assigned. The internship provides the opportunity for students to gain practical experience in specific departments in the insurance industry. You must be ready and willing to commit to up to 25 hours per week and 3-5 days a week for the 3-month duration.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, results driven, and Professional.
  • Good organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Active listener and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both with a team and independently.
  • Dependability and the ability to adhere to regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with daily department tasks.
  • Builds cooperative relationships with team members, leaders, customers, and other applicable third parties.
  • Provides suggestions to enhance process efficiency and business outcomes.
  • Participates in team meetings and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Provides support for assigned department initiatives.
  • Learns and becomes proficient on internal software systems.
  • Engages with customers or other applicable third parties and provides services.
  • Protects the confidentiality of certain sensitive or proprietary information to which the intern will have access.
  • Performs job functions related specifically to assigned department (Legal).
  • Provides Litigation Support: Manages and organizes case files, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Shadows attorneys in litigation activities such as court hearings, depositions, and negotiations.
  • Prepares memorandums following attendance of litigation activities for submission to lead attorney.
  • Provides Corporate and Contract Law Support: Assists with filing and maintaining contracts within our internal contract management systems.
  • Assists with administrative tasks related to company board of directors and shareholders meetings.
  • Reviews and analyzes contracts and other legal documents.
  • Provides support in preparing corporate and contract documents and related correspondence as requested.
  • Provides Property and Casualty Insurance Law Support: Obtaining and updating producer license information within management system.
  • Ensure that producer license information is accurate and up to date for each state.
  • Assist with filings made with Departments of Insurance
  • Assist in matters related to property and casualty insurance law, including insurance claims and risk management.
