About The Position

The Legal Case Settlement Specialist will manage assigned cases from opening to settlement, ensuring accurate record-keeping, tracking deadlines, and facilitating communication with clients, opposing counsel, and debt management companies. This role involves negotiating resolutions to avoid court appearances, coordinating settlement documentation, and providing clients with regular updates and explanations of settlement options. The specialist will also handle cases involving financial hardship, gather necessary documentation, and maintain organized digital case files. Additionally, the role includes preparing settlement correspondence, assisting attorneys with administrative tasks, and monitoring outstanding action items for timely resolution, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a law firm, legal administration, case management, collections, or settlement negotiations.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Experience in debt resolution, consumer law, civil litigation, or collections.
  • Experience communicating with attorneys, debt management companies, and court personnel.
  • Familiarity with legal case management software.
  • Previous remote work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned cases following the initial case opening and filing of Answers or Notices of Intent (NOID).
  • Maintain accurate case records and update case management systems.
  • Track case deadlines and monitor settlement progress.
  • Ensure all case documentation is complete and organized.
  • Contact opposing counsel to discuss settlement opportunities.
  • Communicate with clients and debt management companies regarding settlement options.
  • Negotiate resolutions aimed at avoiding court appearances whenever possible.
  • Coordinate settlement documentation and follow-up activities.
  • Provide clients with regular updates regarding case status.
  • Explain settlement options and required next steps.
  • Gather additional documentation and information when needed.
  • Handle client interactions with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
  • Review cases involving financial hardship.
  • Assist in gathering supporting documentation for hardship claims.
  • Coordinate efforts to pursue dismissals or other appropriate resolutions based on client circumstances.
  • Maintain organized digital case files.
  • Prepare settlement-related correspondence and documentation.
  • Assist attorneys with case updates and administrative tasks.
  • Monitor outstanding action items to ensure timely resolution.

Benefits

  • Weeks 1–6: $5 USD/hour
  • Weeks 7-12: $6 USD/hour
  • Weeks 13 onwards: $7 USD/hour
