About The Position

This position is open only to current employees of the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Applicants must serve and pass their six-month probation period in their current position in order to be eligible to apply. The role involves preparing, serving, and filing modification petitions, processing various motions, orders, and documents, opening new modification referrals, and serving as a point person for communications related to child support cases. The position also includes gathering information for deputies, assembling working papers for trials, processing and tracking green cards, and associating incoming documents with files. Additionally, the role provides support for reception functions, handles sensitive situations, and requires a high degree of motivation, independence, and collaboration. A commitment to Race, Equity, and Social Justice work is also expected.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general office principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures.

  • Knowledge of proper English grammar, usage, and spelling.
  • Knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment, such as personal computer, scanner, copier, mail machine, and multi-line telephone.

  • Keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, serving, and filing modification petitions, including printing, copying, and mailing filing packages.
  • Processing various motions, orders, and documents, which may involve copying, mailing, scanning, and e-filing.
  • Performing data entry in SEMS (Support Enforcement Management System).
  • Opening new modification referrals from the Division of Child Support and setting up physical files.
  • Serving as the point person for emails, voice mails, and documents received from individuals involved in private child support actions.
  • Gathering information for deputies to determine office involvement in cases.
  • Assigning cases to deputies and maintaining a spreadsheet of appearance cases.
  • Assembling and filing working papers for trials and hearings, including preparing binders.
  • Processing and tracking green cards, including preparing and copying Certificates of Service by Mail.
  • Associating incoming documents with files, updating addresses in SEMS, and repackaging/re-mailing documents.
  • Providing support for reception functions, including answering phones, handling in-person customers, screening voice mail and faxes, and processing mail.
  • Dealing with sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
  • Performing various other duties as assigned.

  • Salary Range 38 - $29.25 (step one) - $37.08 (step ten)
