About The Position

The Division of Health Services Management and Policy is seeking applications for a part-time Lecturer to develop and teach one graduate-level, full-semester course. This two-semester appointment includes course development during Autumn 2026 (8/25/2026 to 12/17/2026), followed by course instruction during Spring 2027 (1/11/2027 to 5/4/2027). The course is “PUBHHMP 7691 Executive Skills II: Advanced Professional Growth and Skills” [3 credits]. Building on the foundations of PUBHHMP 7690 Executive Skills I, this course will focus on developing advanced professional competencies essential for leadership and career advancement in health administration. Students will refine their professional portfolios, deepen their understanding of collaboration and team leadership, and enhance their executive presence. Key topics include strategic communication, inclusive leadership, giving and receiving feedback, and managing relationships, as well as applied learning, leadership skills development, and in-depth career exploration and planning. By the end of the course, students will synthesize their learning into a leadership story presentation and a comprehensive career development plan. The university will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) or equivalent
  • Relevant expertise in the topic of course
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD, DO or similar terminal professional degree in a relevant field
  • 5 or more years of experience in health care or industry setting
  • 5 or more years of experience working with, or coaching, health care executives
  • 5 or more years of experience teaching asynchronous online courses in health care discipline
  • Availability to teach similar or identical courses in subsequent years

Responsibilities

  • Develop PUBHHMP 7691 Executive Skills II from an approved syllabus for asynchronous online delivery in the Executive MHA (EMHA) program
  • Develop readings, multimedia content, executive-level applied learning experiences, and virtual engagement activities aligned with course objectives and competencies
  • Collaborate with instructional designers to develop and build the course in Carmen Canvas, including modules, instructional materials, learning activities, assessments, and rubrics aligned with course objectives and MHA competencies
  • Presenting course material and guiding students through assignments
  • Creating an engaging online classroom environment
  • Holding virtual office hours
  • Grading assignments
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success
