About The Position

The Fashion Studies Program at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#119040) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually, subject to available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed through annual evaluations. The appointment start date is August 1, 2026. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate apparel design courses, with primary instructional responsibilities in clothing construction and patternmaking. Additional teaching opportunities may include technical design and fashion technologies (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, 3-D visualization, or apparel patternmaking software), fashion illustration, and fashion promotion. The successful candidate will also be expected to communicate effectively, establish positive working relationships, and contribute to collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts within the program and department.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in fashion studies, apparel design, fashion merchandising, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
  • OR a bachelor's degree in fashion studies, apparel design, fashion merchandising, or a closely related field, with two (2) years of full-time, related industry professional work experience, is required by the appointment date.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility for U.S. employment is required before employment (Immigration Control Act of 1986).
  • A criminal background check is required.
