About The Position

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is seeking candidates committed to innovative teaching and meaningful service for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) dual-enrollment faculty position at the rank of lecturer in the Department of University Studies. This is a one-year temporary appointment that may be renewed annually based on funding, need, and performance. The successful candidate will teach dual enrollment mathematics courses at Sumner County area high schools, potentially including online sections, to fulfill a full-time teaching workload. Responsibilities include regular communication with high school administration and the MTSU department chair to align course activities with the high school calendar. Online teaching requires completion of the MTSU Online training course.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in mathematics or a closely related field, or a master's degree with at least 18 hours of graduate work in the mathematics discipline, by the appointment date.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility for U.S. employment.
  • Must provide information about criminal history for a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A terminal degree in mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching in a high school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Teach sections of dual enrollment mathematics courses at Sumner County area high schools.
  • Meet a full-time teaching workload each year, which may include online sections.
  • Communicate regularly with high school administration and the department chair at MTSU to coordinate planned course activities with the high school calendar.
  • Complete required training for online teaching if applicable.
