About The Position

The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#110320) in reading at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The appointment start date is August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach prescribed reading courses that are paired with general education courses. Additionally, courses may be assigned for which the candidate is qualified. The successful candidate must be able to address the needs of students with varying abilities and backgrounds.

Requirements

A master's degree in reading, literacy studies, general or applied linguistics, OR a master’s degree in any field with at least 18 graduate hours in reading or literacy studies from an accredited college or university is required by the appointment date.
Proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility for U.S. employment is required before employment (Immigration Control Act of 1986).
Must be able to address the needs of students with varying abilities and backgrounds.

Applicants with full-time teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level will receive special consideration.
