About The Position

The Department of Accounting at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The appointment start date is August 1, 2026. The Jennings A. Jones College of Business promotes a high-quality, student-centric teaching and learning model. The successful candidate will be diligent, creative, supportive, and adaptable to the ever-changing market.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in accounting
  • Master’s degree in management or business administration with fifteen (15) years of professional experience in accounting
  • Master’s degree in management or business administration with 18 graduate hours in accounting
  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and six (6) years of professional experience

Nice To Haves

  • Audit certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CISA), or other related certifications.
  • Work experience in internal or external audit.
  • Prior teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a total of five courses each semester, both on-ground and online.
  • Adapting courses for both on-ground and online formats, ensuring that the student experience is equivalent across modalities.
  • Delivering high-quality instruction by planning and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, utilizing a variety of student engagement strategies in the classroom to ensure active student participation.
  • Promoting student success through timely communication, grading, and feedback.
  • Meeting professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
