The Department of English and Cultural Studies within the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus invites applications for a full-time, one-year Lecturer position in Canadian Literature and First-Year Writing. The position has an expected start date of September 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed upon time. The role involves teaching eight sections per year, with one or two sections taught in the summer terms. The successful candidate will teach Canadian literature courses at the second, third, and fourth-year levels, as well as first-year literature-composition courses. Expertise in teaching across genres in settler Canadian literature and first-year writing is required. Specific courses may include ENGL 222: Literature in Canada, ENGL 333: Canadian Fiction, and ENGL 470: Canadian Studies, along with first-year English sections. Delivery modes are normally in-person. While primarily a teaching position, lecturers are expected to participate in departmental affairs, fulfill service obligations, attend meetings, and participate in program activities. Responsibilities also include assistance with curriculum review and course design, and committee work as determined by the Head.
