About The Position

The University of Florida invites applications for an instructional faculty member in Academic Spoken English and TESL at the rank of Lecturer, beginning January 1, 2027. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-accruing position. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating Academic Spoken English activities at the University of Florida and teaching associated courses. It may also include teaching courses connected to Teaching English as a Second Language. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the equivalent of three courses per semester and direct ASE activities. The Department of Linguistics at the University of Florida is a vibrant and congenial unit consisting of 15 full-time faculty and 15 affiliated faculty in related departments. We offer a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics, as well as an undergraduate minor and undergraduate certificate in TESL and a graduate certificate in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching. We have faculty expertise in a wide range of linguistic subfields, and particular strengths in the areas of bilingualism, language documentation, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, and African linguistics. Requirements

  • MA or PhD in linguistics or applied linguistics, completed by December 31, 2026
  • Experience teaching TESL-related coursework
