About The Position

The Department of First-Year & University Programs at California State University San Marcos seeks part-time lecturers for Fall 2026 to teach University 101: The First-Year Seminar. This variable-unit course is a first-year seminar (college success course). Candidates should have experience working directly with students. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Requirements

  • A master's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with students to facilitate their transition from high school to college.
  • Must be able to work in the State of California.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in education, teaching and learning, instruction and curriculum development, or in the area of adult education.
  • Previous college-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students, particularly first-generation students, to facilitate their transition to the academic and social demands of college.
  • Understanding of CSU undergraduate general education requirements.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
