About The Position

The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 101: Introduction to Public Health. This course serves as an introduction to public health and related public health disciplines (core knowledge areas), including Health Services, Epidemiology, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Environmental Health, and Biostatistics. Includes an illustration of the history and growth of public health from medicine, health ethics, and future public health concerns. Also presents the core tenets of social and behavioral science as well as an introduction to advocacy, diversity, and culture, leadership, and public health biology.

Requirements

  • A Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH)
  • Relevant experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus is required.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

  • A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
