About The Position

The Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University is seeking a Course Lecturer to teach AFRI 200: Introduction to African Studies during the Fall 2026 term. This course provides an interdisciplinary overview of various themes related to Africa, including political conflict, governance, democratization, environment and conservation, economic development, rural and urban life, public health, gender, social change, popular culture, literature, and the arts. Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Previous teaching experience is essential.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec.
  • Must possess English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Teach AFRI 200: Introduction to African Studies in the Fall 2026 term.
  • Provide an interdisciplinary overview of themes pertaining to Africa.
