About The Position

The Department of Communication and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach MDIA 403: Children's Media. The department has two (2) Bachelor's degree programs: Communication and Media Studies. MDIA 403: Examines the landscape of children’s media from a critical media and cultural studies perspective. Explores the complexities of children’s media through the communication circuit of production, text, and audience. Content introduces students to the major debates surrounding the role of media in the lives of children in the U.S. and around the globe.

Requirements

  • ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness with in-person classroom instruction
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the State of California.

  • A doctorate in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field
  • Pertinent expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs
  • Higher education teaching experience with minimum of 1 year as teacher of record pertinent to subject area
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence
  • Commitment to serving the campus community as it relates to teaching and service.

Responsibilities

  • Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month
