About The Position

This position is for a Course Lecturer for EAST 430D1 - Third Level Chinese (3 credits) for the Fall 2026 term. The course will use a communicative approach to develop students' skills in various communication situations, expressing ideas and feelings, and discussing aspects of Chinese and Canadian culture and life. Teaching materials include Chinese movies and slides depicting Chinese life and culture. The contract dates are August 31, 2026, to January 5, 2027, with the course running from August 31, 2026, to December 4, 2026. The course schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:35 am to 12:55 pm. The salary is $11,824.00 for the 3-credit course. The posting period is July 7, 2026, to July 9, 2026, with an application deadline of July 9, 2026, at 11:59 PM. A Course assignment includes preparation, delivery, evaluation of students, submitting reports on attendance and grades, supervision of Teaching Assistants, reviewing student grades upon request, and meeting with students to answer questions and provide advice. Employees must comply with the Pedagogical Regulation and administrative directives, using appropriate pedagogical methods and materials.

Requirements

  • M.A. in Linguistics, applied Linguistics, and/or foreign language education
  • Teaching Chinese as an instructor at the college level
  • Interest in upper-level instruction in translation
  • Must be able to teach Chinese language at the introductory level
  • Native or near-native fluency in Chinese with an excellent command of English
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the Course and Course plan
  • Delivery of the Course
  • Evaluation of students
  • Submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades
  • Supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff
  • Upon request, review of their students’ grades
  • Meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements
