About The Position

The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a Lecturer I or II in Welding Technology. UNM-Gallup is one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico, serving approximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup, NM, it is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup offers abundant outdoor recreational activities, various museums, and extraordinary cultural vibrancy. UNM-Gallup serves a diverse student population with over 100 full-time and part-time faculty members, offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and serves multiple high school populations. This is an exciting time to join the faculty as programs are expanding, community engagement is increasing, endowments and grant opportunities are being established, and a substantial cohort of new faculty is being hired. Lecturers at UNM-G have career advancement opportunities outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will teach a 27CH course load per year in Welding Technology, maintain an active service record, participate in monthly Division meetings, and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon with the division chair. The candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Earned industry recognized Welding-related certifications
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Welding Technology at a community college or similar institution
  • Demonstrated welding/metal fabrication experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach a 27CH course load per year in the area of Welding Technology.
  • Maintain an active service record (as defined by the UA-UNM CBA).
  • Participate in monthly Division meetings.
  • Execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.
