About The Position

The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer I in Cosmetology/Barbering. UNM-Gallup is one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico, serving approximately 2,500 students in Gallup, NM. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training, and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves a diverse student population with over 100 full-time and part-time faculty members and partners with multiple high school populations. The college is currently expanding its programs, engaging with the community, establishing endowments and grant opportunities, and hiring new faculty. The successful candidate will teach a 30 credit hour course load per year in Cosmetology/Barbering, participate in monthly Division meetings, and fulfill other duties as agreed upon with the division chair.

Requirements

  • New Mexico State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists Cosmetology/Barber Instructor’s License
  • Three years demonstrated successful industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach a 30 CH course load per year in the area of Cosmetology/Barbering
  • Participate in monthly Division meetings
  • Execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement
