About The Position

The Department of Marketing, Information Systems, and Decision Sciences (MIDS) within the Ellis School of Business Leadership at the University of New Mexico is seeking qualified candidates for a Lecturer II position in Management Information Systems, with a preference for expertise in Cybersecurity. The anticipated start date is August 2027. The Ellis School of Business Leadership is AACSB accredited and offers BBA and MBA degrees. The department emphasizes collaborative student interaction, active adult learning, team experiences, and scholarship. The MIDS Department faculty supports existing BBA and MBA programs, including concentrations in MIS, and an MS in Cybersecurity and Business Analytics. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in Management Information Systems, with a preference for Cybersecurity. The MIDS group is a cohesive team seeking colleagues committed to strengthening the MIS area within the school.

Requirements

An earned master’s degree or a strong prospect for completing a master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a closely related field from an accredited institution by August 2027.

Evidence of excellence or promise of achieving excellence in teaching MIS core and elective courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with emphasis on cybersecurity.
Demonstrated ability or interest in teaching MIS core and elective courses, such as Cybersecurity, Databases, Programming, Network & Systems Administration, and Systems Analysis & Design, as well as other core/elective MIS courses as needed.
Demonstrated ability or interest in teaching online.
Familiarity with cybersecurity and risk-management frameworks.
Designated faculty qualifications that meet one of the four AACSB accredited categories: Scholarly Academic (SA), Practice Academic (PA), Scholarly Practitioner (SP), and Instructional Practitioner (IP).
A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.

Responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Management Information Systems, preferably in Cybersecurity.
Teaching MIS core and elective courses, such as Cybersecurity, Databases, Programming, Network & Systems Administration, and Systems Analysis & Design.
Teaching online courses.
Contributing to the Marketing, Information Systems, and Decision Sciences group and maintaining a strong MIS area.
