About The Position

The School of Management is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Management Information Systems (MIS) Lecturer to join our faculty. This role is primarily focused on excellence in the classroom, requiring a professional who can bridge the gap between complex technological concepts and practical business applications. The MIS Lecturer will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to both undergraduate and graduate students - focusing on foundational logic and systems, strategic implementation and emerging technology. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position.

Requirements

Master's degree in management information systems or a related field.
Minimum three years professional experience in information technology, systems management, or a related industry role.
Record of teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
Ability to work with and mentor students in extracurricular settings.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

Nice To Haves

PhD in Management Information Systems or related field.
Experience teaching large enrollment courses (125+ students).
Experience teaching in an online or hybrid modality.
Industry-recognized professional certification relevant to management information systems.

Responsibilities

Teach four courses per semester (4+4) across the academic year. This includes core MIS courses such as MIS 311 - Information Systems & Application and MGMT 500 - Management Information Systems, and specialized MIS electives.
Develop and deliver engaging and effective lectures, assignments, and assessments that foster student learning and critical thinking.
Continuously update course materials to reflect the rapid pace of the tech industry (e.g., AI integration, cybersecurity trends, and cloud computing).
Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Hold regular office hours to provide individual support to students.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the MIS program.
Occasionally support student teams looking to participate in MIS case competitions within the region and nationally.
Engage in regular and sustained professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and disciplinary knowledge.
SOM AACSB accreditation guidelines specify a lecturer remains academically qualified by participating in a minimum of three professional engagement activities related to their field of teaching over a six-year period.
