About The Position

The French Studies program in the Department of Languages, Cultures and Literatures at the University of San Diego is seeking non-tenure track faculty to teach lower-division French language courses starting September 1st, 2026. Classes are taught on campus. The course load for Fall 2026 is 1-2 courses (3-6 units), with a possibility of additional courses in Spring 2027 based on enrollment. These positions are part of the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit and are subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

Requirements

  • Native or near-native fluency in French.
  • MA or PhD in French or a related field (e.g., second language acquisition, linguistics).
  • Demonstrated experience with language teaching and/or teaching at the college or university level.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lower-division French language courses.
