About The Position

Honolulu Community College is recruiting candidates for a temporary, part-time lecturer pool in Fashion Technology for Spring 2027. Assignments are made as needed and are contingent on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and actual staffing requirements. The position is non-tenurial and is not remote. Lecturers teach assigned courses, provide instruction and guidance to meet student learning objectives, and prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress. Instructors work under the supervision of the discipline coordinator or division chairperson to integrate teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline. Student and peer evaluations, as well as self-assessment of teaching effectiveness, are required. A commitment to community college principles and philosophy is essential. The lecturer must be available for evening and weekend teaching assignments. Courses may be taught on campus, at military bases, at secondary education sites, or through distance learning. Some openings may only be available at military bases or through internet-based instruction. Teaching on a military base requires Department of Defense security clearance; teaching Early College courses for Department of Education schools requires background checks. Applicants must submit a resume, a cover letter explaining how they meet the minimum and desirable qualifications, contact information for at least three professional references, and graduate and undergraduate transcripts from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum qualifications must be met by the effective date of employment. Applications that are late, incomplete, or unreadable will not be considered.
