About The Position

The Department of Management and Human Resources at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Management and Human Resource for part-time teaching appointments. The university is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Since its founding in 1938, Cal Poly Pomona students participate in an integrative experiential learning education that is inclusive, relevant, and values diverse perspectives and experiences. The university is noted for its scenic and historic 1,400-acre campus. The College of Business Administration, including the Singelyn Graduate School of Business, serves over 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The MHR Department is one of six departments in the College of Business Administration and the Singelyn Graduate School, serving more than 5,000 students, many of whom are from diverse backgrounds. The MHR Department has 18 tenure-track faculty members, 16 adjunct faculty members, and more than 700 students in this major. The faculty members of the MHR department prepare students to become effective professionals by employing the “become by doing” philosophy and the “teacher-scholar” model. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • An MBA or a master’s degree in a related field or discipline

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Management or related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.
  • Prior work experience relevant to the subject area(s) of teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
