About The Position

The Department of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach Lecturer- AIS 290: American Indian Education: Equity and Social Justice. This course compares and contrasts American Indian traditional systems of knowledge with western constructs, provides an introduction to the legacy of Indian Boarding School policies, as well as evaluates the contemporary challenges that American Indians experience in educational systems such as high dropout rates, low college matriculation rates, and the impact of cultural differences embedded in these trends.

Requirements

  • A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or related discipline.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher Education teaching experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.

  • The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges (eff 7/1/24): CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY : $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY : $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month
