About The Position

The Department of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach AIS 280: American Indian Cultures and Languages. This course explores American Indian cultures and language and the policies that impact cultural continuity, literacy, and fluency in tribal languages in the US. It examines the human experience to preserve the most fundamental aspect of existence: language.

Requirements

  • A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or related discipline.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher Education teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence.
  • Commitment to serving the campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
