About The Position

The Lead Youth Counselor supports youth experiencing a mental health crisis in children’s crisis settings, helping them remain in the community rather than live in a hospital, hotel, or detention center. The role implements interventions identified in each youth’s therapeutic support plan and engages in daily activities with clients, including hygiene and daily tasks, cooking, keeping to schedules, community activities, and behavior management. As the lead on shift, this employee ensures schedules are followed and coworkers adhere to policies and procedures. The role mentors coworkers and models trauma-informed care. Each lead counselor also takes responsibility for an additional area of the home, such as maintaining the activity calendar or ordering supplies. The position includes supporting healthcare management, medication administration, documentation, household upkeep, and coordination with clients’ support networks. The employee may cross-train at multiple crisis programs to meet staffing needs. The anticipated schedule is 40 hours per pay period, combining day shifts from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and evening shifts from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., including every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Willingness to work a combination of these hours is required. The base rate is $28 per hour, with a $2-per-hour weekend differential for hours between Friday 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 p.m., and a $1-per-hour overnight differential for hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sleep hours are paid at $12.41 per hour when assigned. A $1,500 retention bonus is offered for full-time employees, paid over one year.
