About The Position

The Lead Youth Counselor supports youth experiencing a mental health crisis in community-based children’s crisis settings, helping them remain in the community rather than in a hospital, hotel, or detention center. The counselor implements interventions identified in each youth’s therapeutic support plan and participates in daily activities, including support with hygiene and other daily tasks, cooking, maintaining schedules, community outings, and behavior management. As the lead on shift, this role helps ensure that schedules, policies, and procedures are followed, mentors and coaches coworkers, and models trauma-informed care. The position also has an additional home-related responsibility, such as developing the activity calendar or ordering supplies. The counselor works with clients, their support networks, coworkers, and the Program Supervisor to promote safety, stability, and a transition to a long-term living option. The schedule is 40 hours per pay period and includes a combination of day and evening shifts, with every other weekend. Willingness to work a combination of these hours is required.
