About The Position
The Academy of Asheville is hiring a Lead Teacher to work with preschool-aged children in Asheville, North Carolina. The teacher creates a warm, safe classroom where children can explore, learn, and grow; collaborates with fellow teachers to deliver age-appropriate curriculum; shares children’s daily milestones with parents; and guides play and activities while prioritizing safety. The role includes modeling kindness and social skills and planning a balanced daily schedule with quiet time, active play, indoor and outdoor activities, and fine- and gross-motor activities. The position calls for someone who embraces the Academy’s philosophy and helps create a nurturing, developmentally supportive environment for every child.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years old.
- At least 6 months of experience as a preschool teacher or in a licensed daycare.
- Flexible and ready to work during business hours.

Nice To Haves
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- College degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Responsibilities

- Share children’s daily milestones with parents.
- Guide children’s play using toys, language, and activities, maintaining safety and encouraging curiosity.

- Plan and contribute ideas for a balanced daily schedule that includes quiet time, active play, indoor and outdoor activities, and fine- and gross-motor activities.
