Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer

Oracle•Santa Clara, CA
•$96,800 - $306,400

About The Position

Oracle Core Infrastructure builds mission-critical cloud applications and services, with deployments in more than 50 regions. Its organization supports customer choice, transparency, and value in cloud infrastructure, and is developing canonical implementations of core data-plane components to improve engineering efficiency through high-performance, low-level systems used by OCI services. The role will lead development of a new OCI key-value store designed to support billions of keys and millions of requests per second with sub-millisecond latencies. The engineer will help deliver a new OCI service from scratch, working with senior architects and leaders on challenging systems, data-plane, and performance problems. The role calls for a strong hands-on developer who can work across low-level systems and broad distributed-system design, prioritizing simplicity, scale, and collaboration. As a technical leader, the engineer will shape and drive software design and development for major cloud data-plane components, define foundations for next-generation OCI data planes, and make architectural decisions. The position combines strategic technical guidance with hands-on work, including design documentation, peer reviews, prototyping, code reviews, and project bootstrapping. It also includes mentoring junior team members, working with Engineering Managers and TPMs, improving engineering practices, and promoting operational excellence, service quality, automation, and customer focus.
