About The Position

Join GDIT’s mission-driven team supporting the Department of Defense and helping unify the Air Force’s cyber defense. The Lead Platform Engineering Architect leads hybrid cloud and on-premises platform engineering for applications and services, designing, building, and managing highly available, secure, and scalable baselines across those environments. This includes configuring, integrating, hardening, and managing Kubernetes environments and integrating DoW Iron Bank hardened containers and certificates as a foundation for platform services. The role governs enterprise disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, patching, and update strategies for a globally dispersed hybrid environment, including Recovery Point Objectives and Recovery Time Objectives for diverse data and mission-critical systems. It also requires hands-on work with AWS and multi-cloud/hybrid infrastructure, Kubernetes, IaC/CaC, software-defined networking, enterprise hybrid network infrastructure, and System Integration Lab operations. Daily SCIF access supports work on classified architecture baselines and JCWA integration data, as well as platform builds, patch validation, infrastructure management reviews, and change control. The position is based onsite in the San Antonio region, Texas, with 10–25% travel and 40 scheduled weekly hours.
