The Lead Platform Engineering Architect leads hybrid cloud and on-premises platform engineering supporting applications and services for a Department of Defense cyber defense mission. The role designs, builds, and manages highly available, secure, and scalable platform baselines—including Kubernetes distributions and operating systems—across hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructures. The architect configures, integrates, hardens, and manages Kubernetes environments; integrates DoW Iron Bank hardened containers and certificates; and establishes platform services as a foundational baseline. The role governs disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and patching strategies for a globally dispersed hybrid environment, including Recovery Point Objectives and Recovery Time Objectives for diverse data and mission-critical systems. The position requires expertise in AWS and hybrid or multi-cloud architecture, Kubernetes administration at scale, IaC/CaC, software-defined networking, and System Integration Lab operations. It also involves installing, configuring, integrating, and sustaining enterprise hybrid network infrastructure, including routing and switching, SDN, SD-WAN, and network segmentation. Daily SCIF access supports hands-on platform builds, patch validation, infrastructure management reviews, change control, and work with classified architecture baselines and JCWA integration data. The role validates patching and update execution in the SIL to reduce exposure windows.
