Platform Engineering Lead

The Coca-Cola Company•Atlanta, GA
•$124,600 - $148,200

About The Position

The Platform Engineering Lead is a hands-on engineering leader responsible for end-to-end delivery of a MarTech platform or major component within a larger product line, such as Coca-Cola Consumer Data Platform (CDS) or Global Access Management (GAM). Reporting to the Director, MarTech Product Development, the leader remains deeply technical, writing critical code in core services, frameworks, and complex integrations during high-risk or high-visibility delivery moments while leading a focused engineering team. The role brings AI-native practices into how the team builds, secures, and operates the platform, with a focus on developer velocity and production reliability. It translates architecture and product strategy into executable engineering plans, establishes engineering standards and AI repository guardrails, champions AI-assisted development and automation, and drives production excellence across global services. The lead also applies modern data and AI patterns where useful and works with Product, Architecture, Security, and other stakeholders to align scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs. The position is based in Atlanta, United States, with 0%–25% travel and no relocation provided. The Coca-Cola Company does not offer employment-status sponsorship for this position; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States without requiring company sponsorship. The listed U.S. base pay range is $124,600–$148,200, with an annual incentive reference value of 15%.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including a track record leading technical delivery for high-traffic, production-grade systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading or managing engineers.
  • Expert-level JavaScript or TypeScript skills.
  • Strong production experience with systems-level languages; Rust is strongly preferred.
  • Deep architecture expertise in event-driven architectures, API-first patterns, distributed-systems reliability, and modern data platforms using SQL and/or NoSQL.
  • Strong DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise, including Terraform or CDK, release engineering, environment governance, CI/CD, and operational best practices.
  • Experience leading globally distributed teams, including in-house and vendor talent, and aligning them on standards, execution plans, and delivery outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to product, security, and business partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field; an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and demonstrated experience is also considered.
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States and must not require Coca-Cola Company sponsorship to continue working legally in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with vector search.
  • Experience scaling engineering productivity through automation and AI-assisted or agentic workflows while maintaining strict security and quality boundaries.
  • Experience with AI repository guardrails and RAG or vector-search patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of a high-impact MarTech or AdTech platform or component while writing critical code in core services, frameworks, and complex integrations.
  • Manage and grow a focused team of 6 to 10 engineers, including in-house and strategic vendor talent, and coach for craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Translate architecture and product strategy into engineering plans, including milestones, dependency sequencing, technical-risk management, and predictable delivery across globally distributed teams.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards and AI repository guardrails so AI-generated code is secure, maintainable, compliant with patterns, and resilient to prompt injection, unsafe dependency usage, and accidental data exposure.
  • Drive developer velocity through agentic and AI-assisted development, automation, reusable templates, streamlined CI/CD, and paved-road tooling.
  • Improve production excellence through observability, incident-response readiness, root-cause analysis, and reliability practices such as SRE and SLOs.
  • Apply modern data and AI patterns, including vector search and retrieval-augmented generation for personalization, search, and grounded AI features, and manage AI costs through practices such as token-overhead management and semantic caching.
  • Identify and lead improvements to systemic bottlenecks in performance, reliability, cost, and developer experience.
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and cross-functional stakeholders to align scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs, and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Model effective engineering leadership through clear technical communication, strong decision-making, calm execution under pressure, and focus on customer and business outcomes.

Benefits

  • Access to global technology leaders, expanding professional networks and exposure to emerging technologies and techniques.
  • Opportunities to develop, enhance, and maintain global connections.
  • An agile work environment with management focused on removing barriers and empowering experimentation, iteration, and innovation.
  • A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position.
