About The Position

The Lead Person provides direction to the sanitation crew in a designated plant area. The role is trained in multiple jobs, assists with training team members, and supports the area supervisor as requested. The Lead Person works with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed; communicates with plant team members and meets regularly with the Supervisor to address issues, including missing or damaged parts and equipment. The role also cleans and sanitizes equipment and workspaces, ensures assigned team members meet QA and USDA standards, inspects equipment for cleanliness before pre-operational inspections, handles chemicals within specified limits, and monitors and provides personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Leadership and decision-making skills.
• At least 6 months of experience in sanitation and/or the food processing industry.
• Ability to take direction and instruction from a manager and be accountable for one's own actions.
• Safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations.

Responsibilities

• Direct the sanitation crew in a designated area of the plant.
• Assist with training team members and provide support to the area supervisor as requested.
• Work cooperatively with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
• Maintain open communication with plant team members and meet regularly with the Supervisor to address issues, including missing or damaged parts and equipment.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and workspaces in the designated plant area.
• Ensure team members in the assigned area complete tasks to QA and USDA standards.
• Inspect equipment to ensure it is clean for pre-operational inspections.
• Handle chemicals to ensure their use stays within specified limits.
• Monitor and provide personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
