Lead Pastor - Missionary Alliance Church
About The Position
Missionary Alliance Church (MAC) Life Church in Blairsburg, Iowa, is seeking a Lead Pastor to shepherd its rural, multigenerational congregation. Affiliated with The Christian and Missionary Alliance, the church is committed to the authority of Scripture, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and making disciples. With renewed vision and intentional structure, elder leadership, and a committed congregation, MAC seeks a pastor who will teach the Word clearly and faithfully, walk closely with God in personal and public life, and guide the church in unity, faith, and service. The Lead Pastor will provide gospel-centered, expository preaching and pastoral care, equip believers and ministry leaders, and collaborate with staff and elders. The pastor will participate in important moments in congregants’ lives, such as weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and counseling, and help strengthen ministry systems while remaining open to organic growth and Spirit-led ministry. The position requires licensing with The Christian and Missionary Alliance; ordination or willingness to be ordained is also specified.
Requirements
- A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, rooted in personal prayer, Scripture, and obedience to God’s will.
- Humility, integrity, authenticity, spiritual maturity, and emotional intelligence in relationships and decision-making.
- Led by the Holy Spirit and submitted to the authority of God’s Word.
- Commitment to expository, gospel-centered preaching, theological depth, and practical application.
- Understanding and embrace of the Great Commission and Great Commandment as central to church life.
- Licensed and ordained, or willing to be ordained, with The Christian and Missionary Alliance; licensing with the Alliance is required.
- Strong preaching and communication skills.
- Ability to disciple leaders, foster a healthy church culture, and shepherd through seasons of change.
- Relational approachability and willingness to engage with all generations.
- Commitment to family responsibilities and transparency and faithfulness at home and in ministry.

- Several years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience; spiritual maturity and gifting are considered more important than the résumé alone.
Responsibilities
- Shepherd the congregation and walk with, know, and pray for its members.
- Preach and teach the Word with clarity and conviction using an expository, gospel-centered approach that equips and challenges believers.
- Lead weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and counseling as part of pastoral care.
- Equip and empower others for ministry rather than carrying all responsibilities alone.
- Work collaboratively with staff, ministry leaders, and a plurality of elders, with mutual respect and accountability.
- Help strengthen ministry systems while allowing for organic growth and Spirit-led movement.
- Lead with vision and discernment while depending on God.
- Support the church’s disciple-making mission and its local and global church and missionary efforts.
